One of the most famous duos in early America was the exploration team of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. Their expedition from 1803 to 1806 was the first trip made to the Pacific Ocean and back, over land. In the map of their western expedition was provided the first truly accurate description of the Columbia and Missouri river sources, and the Rocky Mountains. In 1803, the signing of the Louisiana Purchase generated a great interest in expanding the country toward the west coast. The United States wasn’t sure what it was purchasing, and even France admitted that they weren’t sure exactly how much land they were selling. Shortly after the purchase, Thomas Jefferson, then President, asked Congress for $2500 to fund an expedition westward. Jefferson had learned of France’s plans to explore the Pacific Northwest, แม่ม่ายโชว์เสียว and he dearly wanted to reach the west coast of America first. There were several influential groups in the European world who wanted to stake claim to the Oregon and Pacific Northwest Territories. The American northwest expedition was sent to study the tribes of Indians there, and to learn of the geology and the botany of the area. They also wanted to study the possible interference by French Canadian and British trappers who had already established settlements in the area. President Jefferson selected half of what would be one of the more famous duos in exploration to lead his mission westward. Captain Meriwether Lewis then brought aboard William Clark. Their mission, as penned by Jefferson, was to explore the Missouri river and its tributaries, along and to the Pacific Ocean. Clark was actually only a Second Lieutenant at the time, due to paper snafus, but Lewis always referred to him as “Captain”. Lewis and Clark left Pittsburgh with soldiers and other young men, who were chosen to join them on this most important expedition. Lewis actually declared that the mouth of the river DuBois was the beginning of the expedition, but they had already spent two and a half months descending the Ohio River, so that can be considered the actual departure point for the expedition. In late Summer 1804, หนังน่าดู the expedition (called the “Corps of Discovery” by Thomas Jefferson) suffered its only death. Sergeant Charles Floyd died that day or late in the month following their departure from Pittsburgh. It was a sad day for both Lewis and Clark. Everyone involved was very heartbroken to leave the frontier and friends and family behind. In the early part of 1805, the expedition located a seemingly unbeatable spot for a settlement on the shores of BigSpring Creek. Georgia deaf-mute minister Reverend M.A. Jones was asked to teach the Indians to speak English. While Rev. Jones technically was more of a guide and Indian interpreter, he was not really suited to speak to the traveling merchants and scientists. The vast expanse of land and the wealth of resources it offered fascinated the Corps of Discovery. The expedition was lucky to reach their destination on the shores of what later became known as Ocean Springs. There was a wealth of natural resources, and the land had the natural look of having been worked many times over. Dr. Thomas Walker and Dr. Andrew Vellavery were able to explain to the Corps of Discovery that although the land had been “improperly smoothed over by previous explorers”, the land was cleaner and cleaner by the time they arrived. The Corps of Discovery’s next stop was in what is now Fairburn, Georgia, แนะนำหนังใหม่ and although Fairburn was a good rendezvous with the natural resources of Georgia, it was apparently the last place the Corps of Discovery stopped to eat and drink. พริตตี้โชว์หี More bottles of wine were drunk by the explorers as they were literally returned to civilization after their treacherous crossing of theOC streams. After more than two months on their trip, the expedition was finally close enough to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to rejoin their group of friends. Lewis and Clark returned to Fairburn on November 21, 1809, after embarking on the return trip in November 1803. Although there is some disagreement as to the distances traveled by the Lewis and Clark Expedition, most sources give them a total distance of 10,000 miles. They safely landed on the shores of Arkansas on June 21, 1804 and began their journey back to the wilds of Montana. Ephraim Smith and Patience began their journey on October 24, 1805 after crossing the Mississippi River Gorge. They reached the junction of the Ohio and then continued on their way East over the mountains until they reached the Pacific Ocean in Plateau Valley. Their next stop was in the North American Grove of Jordan River Gorge, another 10,000 square miles of wilderness. They traveled over the Great Platte River and into the Black Hills region of South Dakota and Manitoba. In the spring of 1806, they reached the junction of the Ohio andighters in Deadwood, นัดเย็ดสวิงกิ้ง North Dakota.
